"Though Lutheranism is often accused of antinomianism, a too-permissive dismissal of the moral law in light of the radical free gift of the Gospel, this is a gross misunderstanding. Our relationship to God is not determined by our good works (since those with a sinful nature can never have enough of them to earn anything before God) - what we need rather is forgiveness for our sins and the perfect good works of Jesus Christ."
-Gene Veith's The Spirituality of the Cross.
My AP Language class is reading this book. Why read this book in an Advanced Placement English class? Because I teach at a Lutheran high school and the insights this book provides are amazing. Last week we had a great discussion of the theology of glory and the theology of the cross. That's why we are reading this book.
Read it and let me know what you think.
