Why I'm a selfish cyclist

Three selfish reasons I won't ride on the sidewalk:

1. Self-absorbed drivers of heavy, motorized vehicles do not look at the sidewalk intersection when approaching a corner.  Before they roll through the corner turn, they blow through the sidewalk path never looking for cyclists.

2.  The road provides ample room for your car and my bike.

3. Section 257.660a of the Michigan vehicle code reveals riding on the road  is legal.

Riding on the sidewalk is not legal in Texas. You have to ride on the street. Cars must yield to cyclists.

Cars have the right of way in Auckland and they rule the road and the sidewalks. I have equal chances of getting hit on both.
